An interesting debate in Egyptian politics is taking place. It is not about elections. It is about Virginity!

The debate is about a new Japanese Hymen’ kit that makes women, a born again virgin. Politicians want to ban it in the country, calling it a “mark of shame”. Many religious scholars  say the product encourages illicit sexual behavious. However, many argue the Artificial Virginity Hymen is something that can save lives of many women living in areas where the so-called honour killings are common.

Do you agree? Should the kit be be sold in the Middle East? And on a deeper level, do we have double standards in our society which condemns women’s sexuality but turns a blind eye to male promiscuity?

This is a form of cheating. The husband marries the woman thinking he is the only one but in reality he is not. It should be banned.

Kareem go learn how to spell first! You are another uneducated double standards moron! If a man sleeps with a 100 women he gets high fives and the title stud. If a woman has one night fling she is called a slut! I agree, women should not need such a kit. They should be as free as men are! It is the opressive society we live in that promotes such products!!

While I think the invention is creative, I am angry at the fact that women need an invention like this in the first place.

I think it’s a travesty that women have to fake their virginity to avoid being killed.

A woman can break her hymen for reasons other than sex. By jumping, falling, tampons etc. So the product might be needed. We dont want a woman losing her life because she broke hymen while cycling!

This is a very touchy subject ..
I also read that the product sometimes has fake orange blood. So for anyone using it just keep that in mind! It could make things a lot worse!!!

@DiscoQueen: This is about honesty and not double standards. A woman who claims to be a virgin then later on find out she was not, is an indication of dishonesty. She should discuss openly with her future husband then he should have the choice to move forward with the wedding or not. Just like she had the choice of sleeping before marriage. She also has the right to ask to marry a virgin man!

This virginity in a box will be a source of problems.

I agree with camel rider, if everyone is honest, we would not have this product!
Its really shameful that society forces women to have to sneak around and fake their virginity so their husbands won’t think less of them. its ridiculous!

We have a prevailing hypocrisy in the middle east. Men sleep with lots of women and yet they seek virgins to marry. Arabic women will use this artificial hymen out of necessity.

Virginity is like a bubble, one prick, and its all gone!
    An old chinese proverb.

I dont understand why men object to this product? Maybe if more women buy it, they will be more liberal. I dint think men in the middle east can object to easy women surely???

I am all for it! You got my vote!

Having something like the virginity kit can cause a complete mayhem within the Egyptian social life. It will lead to a loss of all the good morals and values we have.
